I am interested in the melanogenesis inhibitors obtained from natural products. The oxidation of L-tyrosine to melanin catalyzed by tyrosinase is of considerable importance since melanin has many functions in human systems. Alterations in melanin biosynthesis occur in many disease states including Parkinson’s disease and melanoma. Therefore, understanding the mechanism of melanogenesis and the inhibition of this process plays a critical role in developing the treatment of melanin related disorders.
