It is widely known that the presence of estrogen has effects on reproduction and even energy expenditure, but new research from associate professor Dan Nomura indicates that it can also have a direct link to bone strength and density. While the relationship has been only observed in female mice in the lab, it lays the groundwork for its examination in humans, which could provide future solutions to age-related osteoporosis in both women and men.
