Congratulations to Alicia Henson, program coordinator and education specialist in the Department of Nutritional Sciences & Toxicology, on being recognized with awards from the UC Berkeley Graduate Assembly and California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Henson is a pediatric clinical dietitian at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, Oakland, with a passion for delivering culturally relevant, patient-centered nutrition care. As program coordinator and education specialist for the department, Henson provides MSND graduate students with the knowledge and mentorship needed for success in their careers.
Henson was named one of three recipients of the Graduate Assembly’s Faculty Mentor Award, which honors selected faculty and teaching staff who have shown an outstanding dedication to mentoring, advising, and supporting graduate students. Recipients are nominated by a current or recent UC Berkeley graduate student and selected for going beyond the standard role played by an adviser.
She was also named the 2025 recipient of the Excellence in Clinical Dietetics Award by the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The award recognizes Henson’s professional excellence in the practice of clinical dietetics, leadership and innovation, active participation in training staff and dietetics, and promoting inclusion, diversity, equity, and access within the dietetics profession.
Henson will be honored by the Graduate Assembly on April 16 and at the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Annual Conference in Long Beach on April 24.
